W: antiqued green felt bases B: same

Today we are happy to present a typically ‘functional’ looking German analysis set that I have unreservedly LOADED with weight and feels absolutely WUNDERBAR! over the board. One of my irks throughout my life was how these medium-sized, really nice-looking playing sets were so light and lacked felt bases – THE WAR’S OVER! – Load ‘em up!!

The name of the set, THE EAGLE’S BROOD, is inspired by the ‘cross’ that the king carries upon its shoulders, which to my mind at least, looks more like one of those treasured golden eagles carried into battle by the Roman legions of times gone by rather than an oblique reference to the church. And I must add, the pawns of this set are just magnificent – such Hunnies! Mini-bullets with extra small domes atop large collars, reflecting the exaggerated double collars of the hierarchy behind them … and with the added weight they feel … well, like they should.

The set in UV protected and ideal for display as well as casual play. Both kings carry the hand-painted iridescent silver ‘power’ signature of the artist on their bases.
